Unattended backpack at Palisades Mall prompts investigation by Bomb Squad
Part of the Palisades Mall in West Nyack was forced to shut down Saturday evening as police investigated a suspicious backpack.
The Rockland Bomb Squad was called in after a shopper found a backpack left unattended in the lower parking garage. Authorities restricted access to that part of the mall as they investigated the possible bomb threat, which turned out to be a false alarm.
An X-ray of the bag showed only the personal items of an unidentified person.
No one was evacuated and the restricted area has since reopened to the public.
