The Ramapo Town Board will appeal a judge's decision to toss out election results that would have established a ward system in the town.
About 20,000 people voted on Sept. 30 on whether the town of Ramapo should be divided into six wards. The results of that election were ordered to be destroyed on Thursday.
Town board members voted Wednesday to seek a stay on that order.
Some say this is just another delay tactic in an election they claim was full of fraud, claiming people like the town clerk and members of the Hasidic community are seeking to maintain power.
The Hasidic community vehemently denies these accusations.
Town leaders would not give a date as to when they will file an appeal. If they accept the judge's decision, the new election will be held in 60 to 75 days.
Both sides have expressed interest in knowing the results of the election, but town leaders say a court order prevents them from doing that.
