Rep. Lowey defeats GOP newcomer

Democratic Rep. Nita Lowey has defeated a Republican newcomer in the race for the 17th Congressional District.



Lowey, who was seeking her 14th term in office, defeated Chris Day, son of Rockland County Executive Ed Day. The district covers parts of Westchester and Rockland counties.



The two debated last week on News 12, covering topics such as gun control and Westchester's affordable housing settlement.
