2 window washers thank their rescuers
The two window washers who were stranded for more than an hour nearly 70 stories high on Thursday got to thank their rescuers Friday afternoon.
Juan Lizama and Juan Lopez spoke about their terrifying ordeal after a cable broke, leaving the men dangling 68 stories above the street at One World Trade Center. The loosened scaffold plunged into an almost vertical position.
Lizama, who has been washing windows for 24 years, said he immediately called his wife and assured her that he would be OK.
Firefighters used diamond cutters to saw through the double-layered glass and get the men out.
Both men say they plan to stick to windows on ground floor buildings as they recover from this terrifying experience.
