Nonprofits rally to stop budget cuts

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds rallied outside the Rockland County office building in New City Tuesday to protest proposed cuts to nonprofits in the county's budget.

Rockland County's proposed 2015 budget will cut $3.3 million in funding to nonprofits. Nonprofit members say losing the funding would be devastating.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day says many negotiations still need to take place before the budget is finalized and the county is not looking to hurt anyone.

A public hearing was held Tuesday night in New City, where members of the nonprofits voiced their concerns.
