Child donating Christmas money to animal shelter

Posted: Updated:

A 10-year-old is donating some of her holiday gift money to Hi Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona.

Nyack native and aspiring veterinarian Amber Reese says she is giving half the money her parents would have spent on presents to the shelter. Reese's parents say they were astonished but proud when their daughter came to them with the idea.

Her mom set up a page on Go Fund Me. So far, they have received seven donations totaling $115.

That total will soon be going up when her parents add the $50 from her Christmas fund, but Reese hopes the shelter donations don't stop there.
