Storm Update: Rain could be heavy at times

Posted: Updated:

A soaking rain storm is creating messy roadways for thousands of travelers on the Christmas Eve.

News 12 Meteorologist Darryl Green says the rain is expected for most of the day with possibly heavy downpours later this evening. Green says winds will also pick up with gusts up to 40 mph.

The good news is that temperatures will hit highs in the 50s so there is little threat of snow or ice.

Green predicts the rain should clear the region by Christmas morning and sunshine should break out during the afternoon with temperatures near 50 degrees.
