Police investigating string of burglaries in Orangeburg

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a string of burglaries in Orangeburg that has left eight homes broken into over the past few months.

Investigators say the burglars generally force open the front door, disable the alarm and take cash and jewelry from the home.

Residents in the affected area have decided enough is enough and hired a private armed security guard to help patrol the streets.

Police are urging residents to make sure their doors and windows remain locked and to keep a light on when they aren?t home to help deter burglars.
