Flooding a fear as 2nd dose of heavy rain approaches

Posted: Updated:

Just days after every parkway in the Hudson Valley was at least partially flooded by rain and with many local waterways still overflowing, another deluge has been forecast to soak the entire region.

Click "NEXT" for additional coverage of storm preps in Rockland County. In Deerpark, officials say they are preparing for possible evacuations ahead of another round of rain. They say residents have been evacuated several times in the last few years because of the town?s location to three major waterways, including the Neversink River.

The Clarkstown Highway Department also spent the day tackling drainage issues in hopes of preventing more flooding, while workers in West Nyack pumped water from a retention pond near the Hackensack River.

Anyone living along the Mahwah, Hackensack and Ramapo rivers has been advised to prepare for flooding. Residents say they?ve started moving valuables out of their basements and have generators ready to go.

Few closures remain as HV flood cleanup begins
