Jury mulls fate of ex-Eastchester cop in manslaughter case
Jurors are deliberating the fate of a former Eastchester police officer accused in the shooting death of a friend. James Pileggi has been charged with manslaughter in the killing of Andre Everett in November of 2009 in New Rochelle.Pileggi has testified that he was taking his off-duty pistol apart to show his friend and two other men the laser he installed on the gun when it went off.The defense insists the shooting was a tragic accident, but prosecutors contend that with his training as a police officer, Pileggi was reckless in his handling of the gun. If Pileggi is acquitted on the manslaughter charge, the jury can then consider two lesser charges: negligent homicide or reckless endangerment.Jury continues deliberations in ex-cop's manslaughter trialTestimony ends in ex-Eastchester cop's manslaughter trial
