A young singer from Buchanan has burst onto the national stage after making a video on YouTube that has gone viral.
Kait Weston was discovered thanks to her cover of Katy Perry's "Firework" and was invited to perform on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show."
"It was so nerve-wracking, the first time on national TV, but it was an amazing experience," Weston recalls.
Weston, 20, has been singing since middle school. Several of her family members, including her sister and grandmother, are musically gifted as well.
Besides performing on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" last Friday, the Buchanan native also got to attend "OK" magazine's pre-Oscar party and walk the red carpet.
Weston is taking a semester off from the Rochester Institute of Technology to concentrate on her music.
