A state senator from Orange County has proposed a plan to collect new tolls to replace the MTA payroll tax.
State Sen. John Bonacic (R-Mt. Hope) has proposed enacting tolls on four bridges that span the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn and Manhattan and Queens, including the historic Brooklyn Bridge.
The tolls collected would replace the revenue from residents of five Hudson Valley counties and two Long Island counties under the MTA payroll tax.
