Ramapo H.S. dean of students killed in motorcycle crash
The dean of students at Ramapo High School was killed yesterday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Pearl River.Police say 44-year-old Peter Fitzpatrick, of Pearl River, crashed his motorcycle into a minivan on Veteran's Memorial Highway in front of the Pearl River Hilton. He was rushed to the hospital, but died from his injuries.Fitzpatrick, who worked at the school for 18 years, also taught Advanced Placement physics."He taught the highest level of students and his expectations were high, but the students lived up to that," said Ramapo High School Principal Jean Fields. "He had such integrity and his role of being a father was important to him. He asked his students to be honest and make the right choices which were all things they said about him after he passed."Grief counselors were at the school today to assist students and other staff members.The driver of the minivan was also injured in the accident. The cause is still under investigation.
