Station owners: Don't blame us for gas prices
While drivers bemoan the ever-climbing gas prices across the country, experts say that the worst may still be yet to come.
A recent Lundberg Survey on national gas prices revealed that the cost of a gallon of gas jumped some 19 cents over the past two weeks, leaving drivers to pay an average of $3.76 for a gallon of regular gas nationally. According to the survey, that price is 91 cents higher than it was one year ago and experts warn that prices could return to a three-year high of $4.11 that was set in July of 2008.
Jay Jamao, whose family owns a Getty station in Dobbs Ferry, is asking customers not to blame him, his family or other gas station owners, attributing the skyrocketing prices to the government. Some motorists, like Richie Grant, of Tarrytown, and his three friends say that they are buying less gas by opting to carpool to work because even though the price of gas is going up, they say the numbers on their paychecks aren't.
