Vendors expect business boom thanks to gay marriage law

Wedding vendors in the Hudson Valley are expecting a much-needed boom in business following the signing of the historic law to allow gay marriage in New York State.
State figures estimate there are at least 50,000 gay couples living in the state. Same-sex couples can officially get married on July 24, a month after the law was signed. Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet says the clerk's office may open up that day to accommodate the sheer number of couples expected to apply for marriage licenses, which will bring in $40 each.
Dykstra Florist in Chestnut Ridge expects the law will have major benefits on an industry that has suffered since the recession. ?That's just gonna double our wedding volume,? says Caryl Conklin.
