Cell phone video catches alleged Hasidic brawl
Cell phone video has been released which allegedly shows a religious dispute in Spring Valley Sunday night.
According to Spring Valley Village Clerk Sherry Scott, the argument between a group of Hasidic Jews and her family occurred when her 11-year-old daughter, Shatya, was playing with water balloons and accidently hit a car.
Scott says a dispute with five or six men ensued, but that between 40-50 Hasidic men joined in and jumped her grandson. She says she was also thrown during the ordeal, injuring her knees and back.
She says she is working with the NAACP and is trying to attain civil-rights attorney Michael Sussman to possibly file a lawsuit.
Police say Morris Jacobowitz was charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and harassment. They say the investigation is ongoing, but don't believe it was a bias incident or was racially motivated.
