Village clerk: Assault sparked by thrown water balloon
Spring Valley's village clerk says she and her family were attacked by a group of Hasidic Jews last night after her 11-year-old daughter accidentally tossed a water balloon into the street and hit a car.
Sherry Scott says after the water balloon hit the car, a man jumped out and chased her daughter, and then others went after her son and grandson. She says at one point, around 40 or 50 people were with them. Scott also claims she was barred from going back into her house and suffered injuries to her knee and back.
Police confirmed two people were arrested, but were unclear over what the charges were.
Scott says she is working with the NAACP and may sue.
