(AP) - Sources tell The Associated Press thatembattled Rep. Anthony Weiner is telling associates he will resignamid the furor over his sexually charged online relationships withseveral women.

The married seven-term New York Democrat's resignation would enda once-promising career as a leading liberal voice.

Weiner became embroiled in a scandal over lewd photos andmessages sent online to at least six women. During a tearful newsconference recently he admitted he had told a series of lies tocover up his bad behavior.

Top Democrats had called for a House ethics probe to see ifWeiner had broken any rules, including whether he may have abusedhis congressional office.
