Cooling centers open throughout the Hudson Valley
With the heat wave expected to last until late Sunday, and the region under an excessive heat warning until this evening, residents are being urged to stay cool and remain indoors with air conditioning.
Those without access to air conditioning are encouraged to head to one of the many cooling centers throughout the Hudson Valley, as even using just a fan may not be enough to combat the hot weather.
One of the cooling centers open is the Doyle Senior Center in New Rochelle. Phillis Maucieri, the center's director, stressed the importance of cooling centers, as the extreme heat could be dangerous, especially for the elderly.
