Campers beat the heat in Clarkstown
The heat will be unbearable for the next few days, and campers at the Laurel Plains Day Camp in Clarkstown are trying to keep cool and have fun by spending time at the local pool.
With young children being incredibly vulnerable to extreme heat, the camp's counselors are being extra attentive to their campers, keeping them in the shade and making sure they stay hydrated.
"It's pretty brutal, but we still make the best of it," said camp counselor James Cerrato. "We all have a fun time here."
Helen Davies, the camp's director, said she also advised the counselors on how to recognize heat stroke and heat exhaustion so they can be aware in case something happens to any of the campers.
