A mother and daughter out walking their dog spotted a large black bear in a tree near 6th Avenue and Front Street last night in Nyack.

A crowd of about 20 people gathered around the tree, but the bear was unfazed.

The girl said the bear was sitting in a tree for about 15 minutes before it climbed down and left without bothering anyone. Later, there were reports of the bear spotted in some surrounding neighborhoods.
