Clarkstown police set traps for family of bears

Police in Clarkstown spent the day out searching not for a suspect, but a furry family of bears. A mother black bear and her cubs have been spotted and photographed around the area over the past few days. Police say they were first seen scouring a Dumpster by the Mount Ivy Diner in Pomona, and again yesterday morning in a wooded area in Nanuet. The sightings have local residents abuzz and police on alert. Officials say the bears pose a serious safety threat to the public. Authorities have set bear traps with molasses doughnuts and chocolate-frosted cake, hoping to lure the family into a cage. They say once captured, the bears will be taken deep into the woods and released.Officials concerned about 3 bears wandering around NanuetFamily of bears seen in NanuetFamily of bears highly recommends Pomona diner
