People who live near the U.S. Military Academy at West Point are having mixed reactions to the official repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

President Barack Obama said he was proud to sign the repeal act last December, saying it's not only an issue of fairness and equality, but that repealing the policy will enhance national security and increase military readiness.

"I think everyone should be able to be in the military and be open about their sexuality and everything," says one local resident.

But not everyone agrees, saying the new policy could cause problems within the military.
