West Nyack woman gets help on Irene cleanup

Dozens of neighbors, even complete strangers, have come together to help a West Nyack widow clean up her home and day care center.

When the floodwaters of Hurricane Irene filled Chrissy Laffey's basement and backyard, she posted a huge sign on her property, and help quickly started pouring in from kind-hearted neighbors and strangers.

Volunteers disinfected countless toys and baby equipment, cleaned the basement and helped restore the playground area in the backyard, where woodchips and the sandbox needed to be replaced.
