Voters head to polls for Primary Day

Voters will be casting their ballots in a number of primaries throughout the Hudson Valley today.
In Rockland County, one of the biggest races is for sheriff, where retired Clarkstown Detective Sgt. Tim O'Neill and Sheriff's Chief of Patrol Louis Falco are looking to take the Democratic nomination. The nominee is looking to succeed Republican James Kralik, who is retiring after serving close to 50 years in law enforcement.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face retired New York City police officer Matt Brennan, who is running on the Republican ticket in the November election.
In the city of Newburgh, Mayor Nicholas Valentine is not seeking re-election, but two other Democrats are vying for his job. Judy Kennedy faces off in a primary against community activist Omari Shakur. Republican City Councilwoman Christine Bellow will take on the winner in November.
