Tenants living in a Pomona apartment complex say they are trying to forget a shocking murder last month, but that the management company has been slow to clean things up.

Jodi Ann Hemmings, 23, of New York City, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend, 37-year-old Jason Ognenoff, multiple times with a steak knife on Aug. 18. She then allegedly set his apartment at the Palisades Gardens on fire.

Residents say that weeks later, plywood covers the windows and they can still smell smoke from the flames. They complain that the scene is an eerie reminder of what happened.

A spokesperson for Majestic Property Management, which oversees the complex, says both police and the Rockland County District Attorney's Office said nothing could be touched. The company has now been given permission to clean up the outside and hopes it will be able to work inside soon.

Hemmings has been charged with second-degree murder and arson.
