Federal officials tour the Hudson Valley

Federal officials spent the day touring hurricane-ravaged areas in the Hudson Valley.

But while officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may now decide to extend government aid to hard-hit communities, that does not immediately spell relief for frustrated homeowners.

A FEMA representative stopped in Suffern to assess the storm damage, but it could be about a week before they meet with homeowners and determine whether the flood victims may be eligible for individual assistance from the federal government. Thousands of power outages reported across HV
