Ceremony marks anniversary of Brinks armored car killings

This week marks the 30th anniversary of the Brinks armored car killings in Rockland County that left a Brinks guard and two Nyack police officers dead.
Domestic terrorists from the Weather Underground and Black Liberation Army killed Brinks guard Peter Paige while robbing the Nanuet National Bank at the Nanuet Mall on Oct. 20, 1981.
The terrorists then shot and killed Nyack police officers Edward O'Grady and Waverly Brown as they tried to escape to the New York State Thruway.
Friends , family and colleagues have been gathering at the entrance to the Thruway off Route 59 in Nyack each year for the past 30 years every Oct. 20 to remember the slain men. The officers' families continue to mourn, while celebrating their lives and the heroism they showed, three decades ago.
