Officials probing Clarkstown North H.S. drinking spree

Clarkstown police and the Rockland County district attorney?s office are trying to determine who supplied the alcohol that left several high school students hospitalized over the weekend. The drinking spree happened Saturday after Clarkstown North High School's homecoming events. The school sponsored an alcohol-free football game and dance during the afternoon, but some students organized a charter bus trip to Manhattan later that evening. Students reportedly got too drunk on one of the buses and started vomiting. Sources say several students were sent to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe says there were likely no chaperons on the buses, and that many of the students might have been given drinks at someone's home before the trip. "Our biggest concern here is, were there adults involved serving alcohol to minors?" Zugibe said. "That's unacceptable conduct." Clarkstown police are asking anyone with information to call them at 845-639-5800.
