Mamaroneck public works employee killed on job

Police in Mamaroneck are investigating the death of a Department of Public Works employee killed on the job today. Authorities say the victim, 34-year-old Robert Delvecchio, was struck and killed by a co-worker on Maxwell Avenue. Delvecchio, who was responsible for maintaining the town's street lamps, was hit inside a maintenance yard by a company vehicle. "He's one of those people who had a work ethic, who we knew was going to be an up-and-coming member of this department," says Town Administrator Steve Altieri. "It's just a horrible thing." The victim was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School.
