Pearl River Saloon reopens months after Irene

A historic bar in Pearl River has reopened after being shut down for months due to damage from Tropical Storm Irene. The Pearl River Saloon, which sits on Central Avenue, was flooded in August when heavy rains pummeled the region. The building required new floors, lighting and woodwork, as well as an updated electrical system. One of the saloon's owners says she is thrilled to be open for the holiday season. "We're back," says owner Bridget Killen. "We have a new menu, the place is beautiful, same staff, nothing's changed." The owners say they were able to get a low-interest FEMA loan to help pay for the repairs.
