Nyack considers smoking ban in Veterans Park

The Nyack Village Board has announced that it is considering a smoking ban in Veterans Park on Main Street. If approved, it would be the latest park in Rockland County to make it against the law to smoke in public.
In total, 54 parks, playgrounds and public areas in Rockland County have banned smoking already. The group pushing the ban, 'Power Against Tobacco,' says that 80 percent of Rockland County residents support smoking bans in parks and playgrounds.
According to the mayor of Nyack, the Village Board and the Parks Department will discuss the smoking ban and will bring it up for discussion at the next meeting.
