Montebello bridge back open to traffic after $850K fix
The Mayer Drive Bridge in Montebello is back open to traffic after months of being shut down for repairs.
Local officials cut the ribbon this morning putting the bridge, which intersects Route 202, back in business.
The bridge was shut down in April of last year after state officials deemed it too unsafe to drive over.
Crews spent months adding two additional steel support beams, new bridge rails and guide beams.
The bridge cost nearly $850,000 to fix. Officials say the project was paid for entirely with local funds.
