. An Army general from the Hudson Valley is expected to be nominated to the highest military post in the country.

Martin Dempsey, a four-star general, is set to become President Barack Obama's next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Dempsey, who grew up in Greenwood Lake, was also recently named the Army chief of staff. His brother, Tom Dempsey, says he is so proud.

Festivities are planned in downtown Greenwood Lake to honor Dempsey's accomplishment.
