Group breaks out into choreographed routine at Palisades Mall

Posted: Updated:

A group of about 75 people broke out into a choreographed routine at Palisades Mall last night in an effort to have a minute of silence for the "Munich 11" at the London Summer Olympics.

Participants say their dancing is part of a campaign to remember the 11 athletes who were killed by terrorists at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972.

Members of the JCC of Rockland organized the event and say they're hoping to be the next big YouTube hit. The large group, which included teens, young adults and seniors, posed as shoppers before Simon and Garfunkel's song "The Sounds of Silence" started playing.

The group has also won $25,000 in a Chase Community Giving contest and has now been entered into the next round for a chance to score $500,000.
