Cops: Possible serial robber caught after HV pursuit
A Spring Valley man appeared before a judge in Ramapo Justice Court today on attempted robbery, assault and weapons possession charges.
According to police, 53-year-old Edward Brims is responsible for an attempted armed robbery at the Guzzles convenience store along North Main Street in Hillcrest back in October. He was arrested last night after officers tried to pull him over, but he fled.
Officials say Brims was taken into custody after losing control of his vehicle and crashing at Decatur and West Central avenues in Spring Valley.
Investigators are now looking into the possibility that Brims is connected to other armed robberies in Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Stony Point and Orangetown that date back to September.
Brims is being held without bail and will appear before a Rockland County grand jury on Wednesday.
