Early snow creates morning commute chaos in HV
The Hudson Valley's first real snow arrived yesterday and it included traffic tie-ups and multiple car crashes that are associated with such wintry weather.
One man was sent to the hospital with a head injury after his truck flipped over on Route 304 southbound, and it didn't take long for police to determine the crash was weather-related. A second accident on Route 304 and West Nyack Road sent one woman to the hospital after the slick roadway caused her to lose control of her Honda Accord, sending her directly into a tree.
In Orange County, a pickup truck sailed off of Route 17 in Wallkill at around 7:30 a.m., creating further jams up north. Orangetown highway department trucks have already started laying down salt and liquid materials to melt some of the frozen and otherwise-slick roadways.
