District on track to reopen Laurel Plains E.S.

Posted: Updated:

After months of tests and cleanup efforts, the Clarkstown School District is getting ready to reopen Laurel Plains Elementary School.

The school is set to reopen on Dec. 13 after months of shuffling students from school to school, finally landing at the then-closed Hillcrest Elementary School in Ramapo.

The superintendent and her staff have spent the past of couple weeks working in the building to monitor the cleanup progress and show concerned parents that the building is safe. Some parents, however, are still concerned about the safety of the school.

The district says that it will begin to furnish the school with desks and chairs starting next week.
