Church: Planned protest of Nyack play canceled

The controversial Westboro Baptist Church has announced it no longer plans to protest Nyack High School's performance of "The Laramie Project" this weekend.
The group informed the Clarkstown Police Department that it would not be coming to the school to protest the play.
The play is based on the murder of a 21-year-old man who was murdered because he was gay.
The church is known for protesting military funerals, saying that soldiers' deaths are retribution from God for tolerance of homosexuality.
