The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the makers of alcoholic energy drinks about using caffeine in their beverages.
The FDA says the caffeine in drinks such as Four Loko is an ?unsafe food additive.?
The agency has been reviewing the beverages for a year and says combining alcohol and caffeine in those drinks is a public health concern.
One of the four companies making the drinks has already said it will remove caffeine and other energy boosters.
Major beer distributors in New York have already agreed to stop selling Four Loko and similar drinks by early next month.
