Clarkstown selects new police chief
The Clarkstown Town Board has selected Capt. Michael Sullivan to succeed Police Chief Peter Noonan when he steps down in 2011.
Sullivan says he's honored to take over the reins.
He spent four years with the NYPD before joining the Clarkstown Police Department in 1987. He worked his way up the chain of command and became sergeant in 1995, lieutenant in 2000 and last year was promoted to administrative captain.
Sullivan says the biggest challenge in the future is how to maintain quality of service in tough economic times.
He is expected to take over around March of next year.
