Montrose VA hospital hosts Veterans Day ceremony

Veterans Day is still two days away, but the VA hospital in Montrose held its main tribute ceremony this morning featuring a special guest speaker who talked about fighting terrorism at home.Duane Jackson, a Vietnam War veteran from Buchanan, shared with the audience his heroic tale of helping foil the Times Square bombing plot in May."The frightening part was when the FBI showed that tape that had that bomb going off," Jackson recalled. The director of the VA hospital says the goal of today's event is to honor the veterans of past wars, as well as reach out to younger servicemen and women who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The VA hospital is holding a number of smaller events to thank its veterans throughout the week.
