Dems claim victory in several major NY elections

New York Democrats took home some major wins last night despite losing a few races to the Republicans who rode a wave on anti-incumbent sentiment into various positions.
Democrat and Westchester native Andrew Cuomo bested his tea party-backed opponent Carl Paladino in the race for governor by a landslide vote that found the two candidates separated by a margin of nearly 30 percentage points. Cuomo had previously run for the position eight years ago and failed.
Cuomo credited his father Mario's example for bringing him this far while Paladino said that while he reluctantly concedes the victory to Cuomo, the world hasn't heard the last of Carl Paladino.
Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, who were both favored in their respective races, also took home the win for the Democrats.
