With the polls scheduled to close in less than four hours, both major-party candidates for governor of New York claim to have the momentum despite what Election Day polls may suggest.

Most polls today have shown Democrat Andrew Cuomo with a commanding lead over his Republican challenger, Carl Paladino. But after Paladino's unexpected primary win, he says that he is still confident in his voter base. Both have expressed relief that the campaigning process is over. Paladino called the experience "treacherous" and "frustrating."

Scarsdale hedge fund executive Harry Wilson, who is running on the Republican ticket in the race against State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, is showing a near-double digit surge in the polls after trailing his incumbent opponent for the past several weeks. The race is expected to be very close and highly dependent on voter turnout.
