Teammates claim police brutality in death of Pace studentPosted: Updated:
Dozens of Pace University football players who watched the death of their teammate during a fatal police-involved shooting are now claiming police brutality.
The players joined lawyers, minority police organizations and civil rights activists who say witnesses were brutalized for trying to help 20-year-old Danroy Henry after he was shot early Sunday morning.
According to police, Henry did not obey commands to stop his car, but witness reports contradict that story. Attorneys for the students now say the investigation is a cover-up.
The students and activists say they want the attorney general or U.S. Justice Department to take over the investigation.
Law enforcement sources have confirmed to News 12 that Henry had a blood-alcohol level of .13 at the time of the shooting.
