Tappan Zee replacement plans narrowed down to 2 options

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Transportation announced that it has narrowed down its choices to replace the ailing Tappan Zee Bridge to just two options, including a single and a double-deck plan.

Both plans would have trains and bus lanes running across the span, although one option would put the trains underneath the lanes of auto traffic, whereas the other would have both trains and auto traffic on the same single level.

DOT officials say that while construction is ongoing, there will not be any reduction in the number of lanes of traffic.

Project leaders have been working with a financial advisor to determine how to pay for the multibillion-dollar project.
