Laurel Plains E.S. students may soon be relocated to Hillcrest E.S.

The Clarkstown Board of Education approved a draft resolution last night to move students and staff from Laurel Plains Elementary School to a vacant building in a neighboring district.
The board says their attorney is finalizing lease arrangements for Hillcrest Elementary School in the East Ramapo School District after a strong sewer-like odor evacuated Laurel Plains last month.
Officials say Hillcrest Elementary School, which closed at the end of the last school year, is clean and in good shape.
School officials say they expect the lease to be for two months while experts continue testing for the cause of the smell.
