Thousands line streets to pay respects to fallen Marine

Posted: Updated:

Thousands lined the streets in Greenwood Lake today to pay their respects as a motorcade carrying the body of 22-year-old Marine Lance Cpl. Scott Lynch passed through.

Lynch, who was serving in Afghanistan, died Wednesday during combat operations.

For family and friends, Lynch will be remembered for being a man who was always there to help.

"He's genuine. He was always there for you and we were always there for him," remembered Russell Sirico, a friend of Lynch.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya, his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will begin tomorrow at the Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake at 1 p.m.

The funeral will be held there on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
