State trooper dragged across 3 lanes of traffic in Wurtsboro

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say a state trooper is recovering after a routine traffic stop turned dangerous this week, causing the trooper to be dragged across three lanes of traffic.

Police say the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Route 17 near Bloomington Mountain Road when State Trooper Kenneth Boris pulled 28-year-old Jason Jeter over.

Investigators are still piecing together what happened, but believe that a scuffle started between State Trooper Boris and Jeter and somehow the trooper got caught by the car as Jeter attempted to get away.

They say the trooper was able to shoot Jeter in an attempt to get him to stop.

Both State Trooper Boris and Jeter were treated for their injuries at the hospital and released.

Officials say charges are pending for Jeter.
