First lady surprises students on Stone Barns Center field trip

Third-grade students at JFK Magnet School took a routine field trip to the Stone Barns Center in Pocantico Hills Friday, but got a very big surprise from first lady Michelle Obama.
Obama brought the wives of U.N. General Assembly members to the center for a farm-to-table luncheon, and the students were given a chance to showcase their farming skills. The tour was part of the first lady's "Let's Move" initiative, aimed at combating childhood obesity. She said Stone Barns Center was the perfect place for the event because of the gardens, the pastures and the greenhouses.
Obama says reaching out to the nation's youth may help them develop healthy habits, as well as appreciate the environment and local agriculture.
